I tried this pea protein powder because I had to avoid whey, egg or soy protein for health reasons. While this product tastes better than the brown rice protein powder I've tried, it's understandable why whey protein is so popular. Taste! Since I can't eat dairy, sugar, or fruit, the best recipe I could think of to make a protein shake with this product was a combination of powder, water, ice cubes, stevia, cocoa powder, and some coconut milk. The taste was good but the aftertaste was very chalky. To be fair, egg white and soy protein weren't much better under those constraints. My sister (who can mix her pea protein with fruit) says that very little lime works for her. So I think it's a good alternative for vegans. I'll finish the canisters I bought, but I'll try something different next time. Maybe hemp, I haven't tried it yet.
