The light is very bright and the band holding the metal parts is very strong. The lamp is quite light, so it is unlikely to fall. My computer is in a dark place under my desk and I always had to use a flashlight to see the USB ports from above, but now I just slide my hand under the desk above the computer and the light comes on automatically. The sensor is actually pretty sensitive so to prevent it from triggering when I move the chair I covered the 1/2 next to me with black tape which helped. highly recommended
