Review on Rankie USB-C to USB-A 3.0 Cable - Type C Charging and Data Transfer - 3 Pack, 3 ft by John Rocha

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The USB-C connector end is too bulky and difficult to insert.

The cables are nice and well made, except for the soft plastic connector at the end of the USB-C cable where it fits snugly onto the smartphone (Nexus 5X for me) with a protective shock sleeve (non-OEM ) included because it is too bulky to install. Low tech solution - I took a sharp knife (a precision blade will do) and carefully cut the excess material off the side of the modified plug material at an angle, which took about 3 minutes with a little trial and error. It now sits firmly and securely in the case without loosening or, worse, not being able to plug in. The prices paid are great - recommend Ranky to change the design of his future USB-C cable to a thinner connector/softer plastic material that fits better in many smartphone cases. It's not a problem if you connect without using a case, but most of us do so in case the case is accidentally dropped. A simple design change will solve this small problem. Otherwise, I'm satisfied - the cable worked with different chargers to power the smartphone.
