I bought a pen with a mesh cover so my two kittens can sleep at night while they are very small. The pen is the perfect size for all of her stuff and even has enough room to play a little. The handle is at the end of the bed so the lid is great for keeping anything that falls off the bed out of the tray! The best thing about this whole structure is the mesh roof. It is both strong and durable. It holds 15 pounds of playful cats - because of course they need to get up! There is some sag as expected but the Velcro is still in great shape and other than the sag there is no sign of wear on the case. The handle and roof really helped our kitties adjust. I have an older cat who tries to steal anything she can and usually acts up when she meets new cats. My other cat is a young and energetic bitch who plays non-stop when she can. I covered the back half of the enclosure with a sheet so the kittens would have a sort of bladder where they could rest and eat without disturbing them. When the kittens are big enough to sleep in the bed, I will leave the litter box.
