I usually use the NYX micro pen but chose this one as it's half the price. I've seen other reviews that said the pencil wouldn't retract and crumbled when trying to use it, and I've also seen others that said otherwise. Unfortunately I got one that didn't work. The pencil wouldn't retract and when I tried to use it the pieces fell off. The third time I tried to use it I pushed it forward, the tip crumbled 3/4 of the way through my first brow even when I was EXTREMELY careful to apply as light pressure as possible and it didn't budge a single one Step. more. I don't know if it broke or if it really failed. I only used MAYBE 1/4" (yes, it really fell apart so much I had to use a full 1/4" to do my brow 2.5 times). Even without taking into account the mechanical problems of a pencil, the designation "chestnut" and "micro" would be a bit of an exaggeration. NYX and ABH are a lot redder - this one was definitely a darker brown with hints of red. The other two are also a much thinner spot. It was like trying to draw eyebrows with a mechanical eyeliner. The formula is too soft, too dark, and not subtle enough to be called 'micro'. I will return to what I know is tested and true!
