I have accumulated many discs over the years. This little device replaced an unused card reader and installed easily in about 5 minutes. Open the case, a few screws on the sides, connect the SATA cables. Ready. Someone has complained that they are not getting the correct speed from the connected SSD. Well, either they're plugged into the wrong SATA connector (one that shares bandwidth with a PCI slot or whatever), or there's some other issue with their drive or setup. It is not possible to assign the error to this device. In fact, this is just a connector installed in the case. It is important to ensure that you change the two SATA ports you want to use in the BIOS to enable "Hot Swap". Otherwise, you will get hard drive errors and you may damage the hard drive or the data on it when you eject it. Also check your motherboard manual to make sure you know which two SATA connectors to use for optimal performance. Some reviewers say it's too much of a hassle to extract. I can tell you I have not experienced this at all and I have inserted and removed 6 different SSDs of different thicknesses and brands (Corsair, Crucial and Samsung) with no real resistance. I mean there is a huge power and data jack on the back of the SSD so it would take a bit of force but nothing made me think it would break. I really like that the blue light is on. an eject button that lights up when a drive is inside and connected to the system. This indicator flashes when reading or writing to the disk, which is nice so you can tell when it's done. I like that the buttons stick to the reader when the slot is empty. When the drive is seated and installed, it will be flush with the front of the case and the button will slide out and light up. Other disc readers like this one have tiny doors that can open and break off if you accidentally bump into or touch them. . There are no flimsy doors or door latches to force open, so you can safely leave your ejected drives in their slots. I just love that I can now use all my spare SSDs as if they were flash drives. Backup just got easier. You can even use this dock as the default storage location for all pictures/documents/videos etc. and physically take everything personal with you when you leave your computer. Definitely one of the best additions to my PC. what I've done over the years.
