WOW, much better than expected - max drive height 9.5mm

I installed this unit in a 5.25" drive bay using an Ice Dock adapter. Installation was quick and easy as you would expect from a drive bay. I've had it installed on my computer for about a month now and it works fantastic. Discs are inserted and removed from the device quite smoothly and with the right amount of effort. I've added/removed drives at least 100 times since installation with no change in functionality. I never thought that I would benefit from such a product, but it turned out that

It took a while to get it working and only one slot works.

It took me a while to figure out how to make the drives visible but after asking on the user forums and here I got enough bits of information to understand . Too bad they don't have any manuals or real info on how to install it. Physically, it was easy to install and turn on. The challenge is getting it to see your drives. One user recommended inserting the disc while the computer is off and running it to see if the disc shows up. And so it was. So I went into the BIOS and made sure the…

works great best in computer accessories and peripherals

I ordered this because I thought one of the SATA data connections on my Kingwin unit was broken - see looks like it's a SATA port on the motherboard. This unit is easy to install, just like the Kingwin - what I don't like is that it doesn't have doors to keep the drive bays dust-free when you're not using them, but the Kingwin does. Second, the drives themselves, a 2.5-inch Seagate SSD and a Samsung SSD, both slide fairly easily into the Kingwin, need some help with this Icy Dock - I actually…

Pros
  • No drive door design for quick hot swap
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options

This removable 2-bay SSD/HDD works great!

I've tried the more popular dual-bay version of the detachable SSD/HDD docking station, and due to a design flaw, it breaks off very easily due to the thin center support bar in the SATA -Connectors (which I did and). The SATA ports on the side of the device seem to need some sort of surrounding wall for support in addition to the center bar. However, another manufacturer chose to eliminate this on the two data ports, presumably to reduce the height to fit a 3.5-inch drive bay. However, the ICY

Pros
  • Totally trayless design and drive installation without trays and brackets

  • No performance

I installed this device in 5.25 inch also with ice dock adapter. Installation was quick and easy, as expected from the drive bay. What I need for computers and accessories

I have accumulated many discs over the years. This little device replaced an unused card reader and installed easily in about 5 minutes. Open the case, a few screws on the sides, connect the SATA cables. Ready. Someone has complained that they are not getting the correct speed from the connected SSD. Well, either they're plugged into the wrong SATA connector (one that shares bandwidth with a PCI slot or whatever), or there's some other issue with their drive or setup. It is not possible to…
