My son is 13 and still loves Jo-Jo. But he's never satisfied with the plastic Duncan bought at the store. He even had a more sophisticated version with a metal core that he didn't like. He trains at least 4-5 hours a week between this one and the other one I bought with auto or manual reset and does all sorts of tricks! He even has a very big one. An all plastic yo-yo about 6-8 inches long and 4 inches in diameter at the largest points that you use like chopsticks on the ends of the strings to move it and you can throw it up and catch what used to be his favorite! But they are much smaller and 1 with its own pocket and glove hides perfectly. ADHD is difficult to control, but once you've found your favorite toy, you really shouldn't leave the house without it.
