Review on 🌲 Woods 50121WD Outdoor Dusk to Dawn Lighting Timer with 1 Grounded Outlet: Energy-Efficient and Convenient Outdoor Lighting Solution by Micky Lovett

If you think it's broken then you don't understand how it works

I've been using these Woods photosensor timers for many years now. I've stopped using mechanical timers because they all make annoying noises. This black and orange model is of much better quality than the old all black bell models. Some people don't seem to understand how this works: if you use the photo sensor/timer feature, it will turn on when it detects darkness, then turn off when the timer expires for your chosen setting OR when she sees light. So if your sensor is pointed at a light that you have hooked up to a timer, it will turn off and then back on when it gets dark, and so on. That's why people think it's buggy and flickering. I usually place them on window sills and they consistently work as intended with no adjustment required. If you put blinds or window curtains on it, it will turn on fine when it gets dark, but stay on no matter how much light there is in the house (due to the shielding provided by the blinds/curtains). I recently tried Amazon's recommendation for this type of timer when I couldn't find a Woods timer for sale. Not only does the Revain version have a noticeable lack of quality, it also doesn't turn off when light is detected. This inevitably causes it to operate irrationally (it stays in "on mode" regardless of the actual presence of light, violating its timer schedule). I'm so excited to see these Woods timers on sale again!
