I thought it was perfect. light weight for hiking and adventure, good color and good fit. Then my son slid his knee across the carpet and the fabric literally melted and formed weird folds in two places. I'd say if all you're going to be wearing is hiking they'll probably be fine, but if your kids plan on wearing them at all while they're playing and being kids. find something else. Value for money: Unfortunately I wouldn't order them again when my first thought was to order another pair quickly because they looked so nice. The quality just didn't meet my expectations. Thickness: just right for late spring/early fall. Suitable for the product: Got a size bigger and was happy that did the trick. Fits at the waist and long enough.
