Review on 32-Ounce Nalgene Wide Mouth Canteen - Durable & Leakproof Water Bottle by Chris Destruction

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Didn't last more than 2 hikes

I typically carry platypus collapsible bottles and have logged hundreds of miles on them. I used this on 2 hikes, and on the second time out with it, i reach into my pack for my insulation layers and find them soaking wet, as this bottle is leaking at the seam near the bottom. My hunting partner had this exact same failure mode on his bottle while deep in the back country. Skip the nalgene and buy platypus. Only reason i tried this is because my water filter has a "nalgene" size adapter. Its harder to fill the platypus, but they dont fail.

Pros
  • Go to bottle for packability, durability and still stands. Love that it's soft in my pack!
Cons
  • Can develop a funky smell over time if not properly cleaned
