I bought this humidifier and it was delivered 15 days ago. A demineralization cartridge was included, so I didn't buy a second one. I haven't turned the humidifier on every night for the 15 days I've had it, but I've already noticed a white film on the furniture in my bedroom. I have a humidifier in the master bathroom to avoid damaging the wood furniture in the bedroom, so the humidifier isn't even in the same room as the dark wood furniture, but I'm still noticing mineral buildup on my furniture after just 15 days. Before purchasing this humidifier, I had a hot mist humidifier for several years and never had this problem. Apparently cool mist doesn't work with hard water. I'm sorry I paid for the extra warranty when it turned out I'll have to buy another humidifier now. As a side note, if you plan to keep it somewhere where something can get in, don't buy this humidifier. It was on my bathroom counter under the first aid kit. In just two weeks I managed to knock two items out of the first aid kit and they fell straight into the water. The top fill feature makes it very easy to fill the tank and that is the main reason I bought this device. Unfortunately, the flip-top lid also means that anything caught in the lid goes straight into the water tank. He really needs a strainer to prevent anything other than water from getting into the tank.
