So I didn't really understand how it would work, but it ended up being very simple. I plugged in the adapter cable and plugged it into an outlet. Then I took a computer cable and connected it to the computer to reformat the device (there are instructions in the manual), but it turned out that this is already good. Since I only bought it to back up my photos on my iPhone, I took out the iPhone cable and plugged it into my phone. I was prompted to download the Photo Bank app. I searched for this app in advance and couldn't find it, so I was glad when it prompted me to download the app when I connected my phone to a storage device. Once the app was downloaded, I could just log into my device through the app and choose what I wanted to keep and save. I was able to create folders on my storage device to easily organize my photos and videos. It's actually very easy to use. The instructions helped some, but what helped me the most was the prompts that came up after I connected my phone. Before using this device I was storing photos in a free photobucket account which I filled out and ran out of free space. I could take everything I had stored in Photobucket online and put it on this storage device. And I still have plenty of space left on it. In the near future I plan to back up all my husband's photos and videos. Oh, I was also able to save all my phone contacts to the storage device, which is a pretty handy feature. I can recommend the device 100%. It's 100% easier than connecting your phone to your computer, launching iTunes and saving your photos to your computer, and then sending them to your storage device, which is tedious. It's super easy and super fast.
