Unreliable transmissions

I work in law enforcement, so proper communication can literally be a matter of life and death. I initially liked this product as it replaced a bulky shoulder mic with a small PTT mic. The earmuff was comfortable with a few minor adjustments and the cords were long enough to fit inside a tactical vest. I've had the first product less than a year and got mixed reviews from people about the mic's sound quality. Sometimes I sounded clear, sometimes hoarse and very distant, but mostly I was understandable. However, the earpiece was crystal clear. Eventually, the cables became detached from the quick connector and could not be reconnected. I contacted the seller and he was happy to send me a replacement. The replacement was a disappointment. I only used it for one shift before deciding to return it. No one could understand my transmissions due to the same gurgling, distant effect I sometimes experienced with the first mic. Every transmission had this effect and was so bad that I had to switch back to my shoulder mic for the rest of the shift. Build quality is decent, but the strength of the cables and their connections to other components could be greatly improved. Convenience is the best thing about this product as the cable length allows for multiple configurations and the acoustic tube is flexible yet strong. At first I thought I had found a great deal with this product, but it seems too good to be true, it definitely applies here.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
