Can't play chords. Electrical interference creates dissonance

This little toy keyboard had quite a few cool features that I liked. There is a microphone that plugs into the keyboard to project your voice out of the speakers. There's many rythms and pre-recorded nursery rhyme songs plus several different instrument sounds. It's also got a rechargeable battery that lasts a decent amount of time on one charge and it still runs when plugged in for charging. My 3yo daughter enjoyed playing with it and discovering what all the buttons do. The teaching mode was useless for her, she didn't get why the music was stalling, waiting for her to press a key. I imagine it'll be better for an older kid.The quality feels like cheap light plastic (actually a good thing because it's easy to move around) so I don't know if it'll be very durable. My only real here gripe with this keyboard is the sound quality. The piano sound is not that bad for a cheap toy but I could not stand the electrical interference when you try to play more than 1 or 2 notes at a time. There's a buzzing higher pitch note that sounds if you play a chord that created a lot of dissonance to my ears. I play piano myself and just couldn't stand this dissonance. And yes, I tried to play chords with a melody for my kids and none of it sounded right. If you just play melody one note at a time, it's not too bad. But for that reason, I'm returning it. I can't use it to teach my kids music.

Pros
  • Grandaughter 1 1/2 yo loves the key board. keys light up to help her learn to play
Cons
  • Limited flexibility in sound configuration
