Review on Enhanced Vivitek Qumi Q2 300 Lumen WXGA HDMI 3D-Ready Pocket DLP Projector (Black) by John Contreras

Revainrating 4 out of 5

It's worth the wait in video projectors

For a long time I've been waiting for a small portable projector with at least 100 lumens of brightness and at least 720p resolution - Qumi was the first projector that met my requirements. I bought it as an alternative to a TV for my bedroom. The Qumi sits on a small shelf above the bed and is projected onto the opposite wall to form a huge screen (80-90 inches) that looks great (when the lights are off). Next to it is a Roku box. to stream Netflix/Hulu Plus/MLB.tv etc videos over my wireless network. Pros: Excellent image quality. Slim, good-looking form factor. Only 1.4 pounds. Bright enough to make a huge screen in the dark or dimly lit room. .Cons: The focus issue that other reviewers have mentioned is a little annoying. The projector takes 5-10 minutes to warm up and the focus changes slightly. I've learned to just deal with a slightly blurry image in the first part of my show or film. The sound sucks (although that's to be expected), so external speakers are a must. Also, you need to flip the switch to turn on/off the projector. Projector side - the remote control cannot turn the projector on and off which would be nice.
