I have the same pants in men. The waist is high and I have to tuck the belt in for comfort. As a result, I hesitated to order them. I have large buttocks and thighs so I ordered one size up from my usual size. It has a great fit and the waist is nice and low so I don't have to roll the belt down but not so low that my tear is showing (nobody wants to see that!). The best thing about this style is the flexible band that allows for better movement and room for those days when you're a little bloated.
