Review on Optoma GT1080HDR Projector Refresh Response by Laurie Nelson

Short throw in the basement, garage or backyard!

This is my second projector. My old projector, bought new in 2005, was a long throw projector and I mounted it on the ceiling about 10 feet from a 100 inch screen. I wanted to have my new projector close by so I could use the portable screen in my basement, garage and backyard. I ended up building an adjustable roller projector stand out of an old office chair. Now I can set up the test grid properly anytime, anywhere on the screen. As for the projector itself, this is one of the best short throw projectors for under $800. My 4K TV spoiled me, but this projector comes pretty close. I love how I can adjust the image settings for different modes and assign one each to Basement, Garage and Backyard.

Pros
  • Flexible connectivity: connect to game consoles, media players and other HDMI devices such as Google Chromecast, Fire Stick and Apple TV; Inputs include dual HDMI (1.4a with 3D support)
Cons
  • Hard to tell
