eliminates noise from digital voice recorders

For those looking for a solution to eliminate the noise characteristic of Micromemo recordings, here is a suggested solution: Audacity. 1) Isolate the Micromemo microphone so that it picks up sound as close to 0dB as possible. Go into a closet and wrap just the mic in a heavy sweater (you might even want to isolate the mic from the iPod noise). Save this 0dB recording in an uncompressed format. 2) Make other recordings normal and open them in Audacity along with the 0dB recording. 3) Select the entire length of the 0dB recording, choose Noise Removal from the Effect drop-down list, then click Get Noise Profile. 4) Select the entire length of each entry you want to remove the micromemo hiss from, select "Remove Noise" and then "Remove Noise" (I always leave the accompanying slider close to "less" ", nibble as little as possible). This will remove noise from Micromemo/iPod recordings. A minimal amount of noise remains, but this can be neglected in the current context.
