Better than Harmony

I originally had a Logitech Harmony One remote for about a year and was quite happy with it. It literally fell 2 1/2 feet to the carpet and the screen shattered (see photos above) and I was very angry. After I got over that, I looked for a new remote control, but I needed a more customized one. I decided to try the Harmony Touch (the latest model) and I absolutely hated it! I returned this remote a day later and am still looking for the remote. After that one of my friends recommended urc mx450 so I checked it out. I've found many reviews online saying it's an amazing remote but I'm having a hard time getting used to the programming. I decided to give it a try. First Impressions (BUT PLEASE READ MORE!): Once I started using the remote, I went through the initial setup and all my devices were easy to find! But I started programming macros and such and I got completely lost. I've been thinking about sending the remote control back. I spent a good 3-4 hours before the light came on and I finally figured out the remote control. After the lightbulb, the thing is a no-brainer and I'm totally in love. Harmony with a remote control seems like a complete joke to me. Pros: Durability. Feel safe in your hand. Incredible amount of settings. Overall, I am very satisfied with this remote control and can only recommend it. Keep in mind that there is a slight learning curve, but I promise that once "your lightbulb" lights up, you'll love this thing as much as I do. My friend says they are much easier to use than Harmony. Also, we both noticed that the mx450 responded about twice as fast as the Harmony when looking at the cable box manual. Do yourself a favor and buy a remote control. With a little patience, you can make yourself and incredible electronics the focal point of your home, making it easy for everyone in your life to enjoy your home theater. month I really fell in love with this remote control. After the initial programming, I found ways to improve my macros to better suit my needs. Also, I've since added a Lutron IR dimmer to my basement so I can control the lights without getting up. This remote controls the light very well. I set it up so that when I press 'Watch DVD' it also turns off the light. Overall this is a great remote and I highly recommend it. It takes a little patience, but it's worth it!
