Review on 🐢 PDP Wii U Wired Fight Pad - Yoshi by Michael Willis

I got this controller to use with SMM and MK8 as an alternative to using a gamepad (at the same time I also got the controller in HORI Battle Pad Pikachu version, more on that in a little bit). I have to say this is a very solid controller, it feels very solid and looks very cool. I matched it with the Yoshi Wiimote and the colors match perfectly. The Gamecube controller is my favorite Nintendo-style controller and is very close in design. I like everything about it except for one thing: the L2 and R2 shoulder buttons are set so low that they are unresponsive. The L2 R2 buttons themselves aren't recessed, they're huge and need to be pressed hard enough that responsiveness is really compromised. None of the other buttons have a problem with it. When playing Mario Kart 8 these buttons are important and how they actually interfere with my gameplay. Yes, you can use L1 and R1, but they are so big that L2 and R2 buttons make them inconvenient to use. Luckily, the HORI controller has nothing to do with that, and both sets of buttons are easy to access and attach. You don't have to sink the keys into a deep recess. You will be pressed immediately. Any game that doesn't use the L2 R2 will do, or a game that eventually doesn't require you to press those buttons, but unfortunately that's exactly what I bought the controller for. Maybe I'm picky and only give it one star, but in my opinion you don't need to long press the SO button before it connects internally. Anyway, as other people have mentioned, this controller has a cable that needs to be connected to the Wiimote in order to use it. If you don't have a Wiimote, there's nowhere else you can connect it to your Wii or Wii U. The controller itself does not require batteries, but your Wiimote uses its batteries to transmit the signal.
