Pedals and footrest finally fit together

I bought an Excalibur Thruster 2900 about a year ago to replace a very old Kent bike that was almost out of service. Kent had a rear kickstand when I got it and I missed it on the new one - hate when pedals and footpegs clash. But so many people seemed to have an issue with this item being too short for 29ers that I waited a long time to buy one. Seems like I shouldn't have waited, it's working great for me and my pedals are finally free of impediments. In fact, I probably have an inch of extension left - if I pulled it all the way out I think the bike would tip the other way (see photo). So there is plenty of scope to adjust both up and down. I had clear vinyl tubing from another project and used it to protect the bike's finish from footpeg clips. Yes, and FYI you will need a set of metric allen keys. The only real bummer was the total lack of directions. There are a few small details and it took me a few minutes to figure out where it was all going. I missed the washer the first time and had to loosen a screw to put it in, but that's no big deal. I bought thread lock as some other reviewers suggested but ended up not using it as the packaging said it would require up to 500 degrees of heat to remove...no thanks I'll risk it . For the price I could afford to change it every season if I have to. I hope I don't have to do this. All in all a great purchase and even with a few hiccups during installation I think it took almost as long to remove my old stand as it took to install this one. Highly recommended!
