More than just a name tag

In the office we needed an inexpensive and easy to use doorpost sign to indicate if we were being disturbed. We often close our doors because of "noise" in the office, but that doesn't necessarily mean we don't want people coming in. However, we do NOT want to be disturbed during a phone call or online meeting. We also wanted a sign that didn't need to be permanently installed and wired. The magnetic lock LED sign was just about perfect for our needs. We can remove it when needed, program it for the type of call or meeting we're in and charge it up for an all-day session or short meetings to show passers-by in the office what's going on. PROS: The scrollability and variable speeds are perfect for our needs. A bright LED combined with movement draws attention. The ability to program different messages is a real benefit. Battery life seems excellent so far. The size is perfect for our needs. The default fonts were crisp without having to experiment with other fonts or graphics. CONS: The name tag programming software is only available for Windows and has a very dated Windows look and feel (think the 1994 version of Windows). The instructions are unclear, mainly because of the almost literal translation from Chinese to English. The software only comes on the supplied CD and as most modern laptops no longer have CD/DVD drives an external drive must be used to install the software. Also, there were two versions of the software on the disk and you could guess which version was needed. Manufacturer Suggestions: Have an online version of the software interface that does not require a CD. Activate the Mac version of the software. Update the software for a more modern user interface.
