So far very satisfied with these candles. The whole candle glows in a light, warm ivory tone. The timers worked well and were bright for a month on the first set of batteries. After reading reports of rain coming in from the hole around the artificial flame, I sealed the space with clear silicone caulk because mine were exposed. For candles displayed in lanterns this should not be a problem as the top of the lantern is solid. I'll add pictures when I post an update on battery life and water resistance. The bottom section unscrews to reveal the battery compartment and timer. The seal line is a fraction of an inch off the ground so it can withstand rain dripping down the sides or be placed on wet surfaces that drain well. Sitting in water that forms puddles over the compaction line is probably not recommended. If you want an indoor or outdoor candle that looks like a real candle, get the brand new Luminara 1000hr at six times the price. If you need extremely affordable candles for outdoor decoration, go for them. Great for window wreaths and embedded in pots and neat trees. Battery life update: Batteries last more than 8 months on a timer with the same brightness as the first update. At 10 months they are just beginning to fade a bit, but not enough to make you want to change them.
