If you are preparing in a room that is already bright, this light might be enough, but if you go early in the morning, it just isn't bright enough. I posted photos of me with the light from just this mirror and ceiling light in the room, and then another photo of me with my regular beauty light. My regular beauty lamps are much brighter and I can see that some people don't want super bright lamps early in the morning. but I want to be able to see well and clearly when putting on make-up. I sent the mirror back because it wasn't bright enough. As far as it's travel friendly, it's light and will travel well. It's a good size and I love that you can choose where to place the magnifying mirror. I would not recommend this to anyone looking for a special mirror with bright light for preparation.
