I was looking for something for winter hiking and it fits perfectly. I haven't had a chance to test them on a full hike yet, but I put them on over rough terrain after just a foot of snow fell. I didn't slip at all in places covered with ice. My boots are a size 8 - I took the medium one and they fit my boots a little but I think the next size up would be too big. I prefer them to be neat rather than slipping off. They are easy to put on and take off and I love the velcro closure for extra security.
