Review on Monosaudio Aluminum Record Turntable Stabilizer by Michael Henderson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good for checking level and for records that aren't quite flat

Mainly I wanted this for the center level to make sure my turntable is always perfect is smooth. What I didn't know is that it's more like a record weight and helps smooth out slightly warped records. This not only prevents the frog from jumping around the groove, but also noticeably improves the fidelity of distorted recordings, balancing tone and speed. It can't handle badly warped records, but I was impressed with how well it worked on my Music Hall turntable. I've worked on improving the sound, swapping out pickups, adjusting the arm, and calibrating it over the years, but this vibration canceller seems to have had one of the biggest impacts on overall sound quality. The overall quality of this item is very good. It's constructed from a heavy piece of machined aluminum and has a beautiful black anodized finish. It weighs almost 3/4 pounds and should work on any audiophile turntable. I have never used anything like this and if you had asked me beforehand I would have thought it was a gimmick. Maybe it is, but it definitely works for me and I'm enjoying my records now more than ever, especially some of my rare old slightly distorted albums.
