Bought to fit some old LCD monitors for use with consoles and BR/DVD players. The first monitor doesn't have built in speakers and I have used this along with a composite video "A/B" switch to use an XB360 and DVD player with it, there are a few other items required to do this with a monitor with or without using speakers.In any case, this requires a red to white RCA cable to a 1/8" stereo headphone jack. This allows you to use a 1/8" male-to-male cable to connect monitors with speakers. And it allows you to connect desktop speakers. However, please note that if your monitor has an input for speakers, a red/white RCA to 1/8" jack could be mated to a red/white RCA to 1/8" jack provided it was long enough for your device. I was impressed the small size Crate. Automatically adjusts the resolution and screen size for every monitor I tested it with. The buttons are a little small but work well. I had no color issues on the 2 monitors tested. I gave 4 stars due to the location of the audio jack I've yet to see a VGA monitor with RCA inputs, it would be much more convenient if the RCA outputs were replaced with a female connector, making it easier to connect monitors/speakers.
