Aesthetic but gross

I bought this for my son to use in kindergarten but it is so gross and gross that I couldn't bring myself to send it to him to use. Even after three washes with fabric softener on a high cycle, the fabric felt rough. Instead I used fabric to make a pillowcase. Nevertheless, I will give it to her: it is very well made and durable. Even after all my plasticizer attempts, the colors have not faded and not a single seam has fallen out.
