Review on 🏬 Streamlined Storage Solutions: Steves Rack Shack Organizer Workshop by Anthony Shields

Read this before you buy!

I ordered a stand for 8 power tools. The design, finish and concept of this rack is good, but I have a few criticisms. First, this stance requires mods to empower it, so some people won't be able to do it. For them I do not recommend buying this. If you have woodworking skills this could be a good custom shelf. I hope the following details are clear to those reading. By design, the back of the shelf is also a mounting plate. First it is screwed to the wall, then the shelf parts are assembled and then slid onto the mounting plate from above. The two vertical side parts that hold the 3 shelves each have a groove on the back. These 2 grooves slide over each end of the mounting plate, holding it in place and supporting the entire weight of the rack and any content you add. During installation, the back of one of the grooves broke off. This part of the groove slides between the wall and the mounting plate. Without them, the rack cannot hang on the mounting plate and therefore cannot be attached to the wall. This part broke off before I could slide the stand all the way onto the mounting plate. After removing the stand and looking at the broken part I found it was just glued plywood, a very flimsy construction. I'm glad this mistake happened before I loaded the rack with all my expensive power tools and batteries. I glued the part back on and threaded through the nails and the rest of the grooves to add strength and hopefully prevent future failures. Once done, I did what that pose was supposed to do. I added power tools to the bottom shelf. To my disappointment, even with the batteries removed from the tools, this bottom shelf had a severe kink. This bow only gets worse with time, weight and gravity. So I removed the tools and glued and screwed a 1x4 inch board to the bottom shelf to give it support and strength. After letting the glue dry, I reinstalled my power tools onto the bottom rack and no more creases! All of these mistakes could have been avoided if the frame had been made of hardwood instead of cheap plywood. If any part of this fails again I will take it apart, use the parts as templates and redo it in solid wood. The overall design and concept made me give this one a 3 star rating. If it was made out of high quality solid wood and no modifications needed, it would definitely get 5 stars. If I couldn't fix the issues it would definitely get 1 star and I would return it. I've included photos to hopefully give some clues as to what I needed to do. Unfortunately I didn't think to take photos until I installed the rack, so you can't see the inside of the grooves where I added the nails, you can only see them on the outside of the side panels.
