We have been using it as a honey distributor for about 6 months. Although it doesn't spill on its own, honey will always remain on it after use, which we need to wash off before putting it in the cupboard. A new problem—and the reason I'm writing this review for others—is that it can't possibly be airtight and pest-free. We keep it in our closet with other items and other things are fine. However, this morning we found about 20 large ants in the honey! I have no idea how they got into the bottle - it was sealed for visual inspection. But obviously not. Can't keep using it as we had to throw away a full bottle of honey. And we almost ate the ants. Obviously it also can't be isolated from the air if the ants can get inside. Thought it was a better solution than the other bottles we tried, but that's just another issue. For syrup, especially chilled, it's probably fine. Just wanted to warn potential buyers.
