After years of typing in low light, I wanted a backlit keyboard, maybe even a big font. After reading too many reviews and looking closely at what the sellers were claiming, I ordered a few to audition. Here, in order of preference, is what I found. I hope this helps you. Perixx PERIBOARD 317: 5 stars The seller's description is fully accurate. The soft white backlight is easy on the eyes and the flat island keys are comfortable to type on. If you've ever used Scroll Lock, you must use it without highlighting. The keys are always easy to read, even when there is enough ambient light to turn off the backlight. She doesn't have folding legs, but small elevators are built into her. This keyboard is actually full-size as far as keys go, but it feels smaller than others as there's little to no "bezel" around it. It is small, light and makes a very robust impression. Consumes very little current (100mA). I saved these. Note. Works great on XP too, although it's not listed in the description. Azio KB505U 3-color keyboard with large font: 5 stars. This keyboard is very good, if a bit big. The large font is very legible, and the backlighting is superb in every color, penetrating all character stencils evenly rather than around them. It has concave keys with little to no space between them and a slight bevel around the top of each key. They're pretty easy to print with. It has a good palm rest, a full set of media keys, and even a calculator key! The spacebar and LED on/off button are the only non-backlit keys, but that's not really a big deal. The only thing that really bothers me is the Caps Lock, NumLock, and Scroll Lock LED indicators. There are 3 small holes and the LEDs are too far underneath so you can barely see when they are lit. The more ambient light, the worse. Finally, with the backlight off, the keys aren't as legible, even in good ambient light. Even if you take those little issues into account, it's also a goalkeeper. NOTE: Power consumption not listed. Redragon RGB K502 4 Stars Gaming KeyboardVery well equipped keyboard. It has a braided cable with an RF choke and a wide palm rest. It has flat island keys with a light travel and a velvety surface that is pleasant to type on. It has 7 colors (white, blue, red, green, purple, yellow and cyan) and can be customized for a variety of effects with adjustable dimming and speed. Light travels through the keys, not around them. You must keep the backlight on at all times, as without it it's impossible to read the keys, even in bright light. It has 25 scroll keys, all of which are underlined. It has WinLock (Fn+Win) with an LED indicator replacing the scroll lock indicator. Scroll Lock has no display. Unfortunately (at least on the one I have) some keys are backlit unevenly. The top part of all function keys (F1F12) is dark, as is the right side of the Enter key. A NOTICE. The current draw is not specified. Mafiti Gaming RK100 with tricolor backlight: 2 stars. to explain. This is a gaming keyboard (I'm not a gamer) so some things I don't like might please gamers. But I doubt it. First, it shares the same problem as the RK-201: the backlight around the keys is too bright compared to the light passing through them. Unfortunately, it doesn't matter if you dim, brighten, or change the colors. the problem is the same. The last row of keys on each side has little to no backlight. Of the three colors, green seems to provide the best lighting. My next problem is characters: some are much bolder than others (W, A, S, D), probably for gaming but annoying to type on. Also, some punctuation and symbol keys print characters next to each other, which is annoying. On the plus side, the backlight turns off automatically after about 20 minutes. A NOTICE. A current of 400 mA is used. You can hold Fn and the light button and it will automatically cycle through 3 colors (from full brightness to off) before moving on to the next color. OMG, as if other issues aren't distracting enough already! Mafiti White Backlit RK201: 1 StarThis article represents almost not only is the white backlight uneven (see image), but the light surrounding the keys is much brighter than the light coming through them, which is really quite distracting itself above the letter (so the numbers and F keys) noticeably darker than the rest The character size is actually smaller than most full-size boards I've seen No need to review the rest of the features and/or lack thereof because I was looking for an easy to read keyboard with a nice backlight that's NOT it Speaking of which, I couldn't wait to turn it off.
