This is the third brand of writable practice keys I have bought and this set is by far the best. It's easy to record and re-record, the audio is clear and the button on the top doesn't move or crash when my big dog steps on it. Insert 2 AAA batteries (included), then set the record: 1) Press and hold the button; 2) If there is a single beep, record your tone; 3) release and it will beep twice to confirm. A few small changes would have made this 5 stars for me. First, a tiny Phillips screwdriver is required to open and close the battery compartment, which makes matters worse. Second, there is no way to "lock" a record. If the dog accidentally presses it or lies on it for a few seconds, it will reset itself with a beep and then record what it was originally.
