This is just what I needed to replace the old stretched spring on my attic ladder. I have a house with a 19th century attic staircase and it's nothing special, but over the years one of the sides has continually sagged and progressively deteriorated. It didn't take me long to discover that the culprit was a spring that caught on a latch as the door closed, and then as it opened, the spring deformed and stretched. forever trying to find a replacement spring and I was never able to find exactly what I needed but when I came across this one at Revain it looked like it should fit the bill and it was cheap enough to take a chance enter into. Well the game was worth it and although the spring is a little shorter than the original it works great. I couldn't recommend it more if you have a century loft staircase like this. Century 8.9 feet. Spacemaker wooden loft stairs and need a replacement spring then this is for you. ***Update*** I forgot to mention this before, but I had to cut a small piece off one of the spring eyes so I could hook it through the original spring mount. To be honest it was also a huge pain in the back to install. Being a little shorter than the original spring, it will need some stretching to install, which was definitely no picnic. However, since this spring was not necessarily intended for this particular application, I had no intention of mentioning it in my discussion of these two subjects. Especially since it works great now that it's installed.
