Old school bottom bracket rebuild

If you have a bottom bracket shell and spindle, you have enough bearings to restore it for five seasons. By then the cups should be worn out or you will need to switch to a sealed cartridge. Seven dollars well spent.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Out of style

Works on a Mongoose Tech 4 Dual Suspension Bike

Nothing to say but everything is as described and pictured. The bearings are 1/4" and 9 in each ring. 10 rings will be assembled as shown in the picture. Poor quality, each pair only lasts 200 miles

After installing and driving about 100 miles I have to tighten the bottom bracket as there is a lot of play, then another 100 miles these balls are gone, the locking rings are already in pieces broken. Same problem happened to all 10 pieces, each pair can only do 200 miles in a week. I think the broken parts of the ring also scratched the bottom bracket cover and the axle surface so I have to replace everything.

Pros
  • Industrial & Scientific
Cons
  • Expensive
