They work. I use them as glove liners when working with meat on a grill and use plastic food gloves. When used as garnishes, you can handle ribs, large cuts of meat and pork like brisket and pork shoulder, and hot grilled chicken. They are not a substitute for working with hot cookware such as grills, cast iron skillets and even hot stainless steel skewers. I'm sure they're good for other things, but I use them to handle hot food in the pit.
