I recommend Cliradex Wipes and Cliradex Light for blepharitis/rosacea of the eye/demodex mite. Within 5 days of twice daily treatment my blepharitis got a little better and after 8 weeks of using wipes in May and June 2017 my eyes felt great. My rosacea was almost gone by the end of 8 weeks. My ocular rosacea has improved a lot. I use Cliradex Light to control Demodex after initial mite eradication (otherwise the mites will become overpopulated again). After much web research I believe the "cure" for blepharitis has 4 parts and it's not easy. You must strive to be successful. 1) Stop the inflammation. Find out what's causing your bodily inflammation, and then avoid it. Inflammation is the main culprit as it affects your immune system, which normally keeps demodex mites in check. Their white blood cells secrete hypochlorous acid, which normally kills eggs and bacteria from ticks and nymphs (non-adults). See the National Rosacea Society website for inflammatory triggers. If you skip this step, you will never bring your skin back to a normal immune response. 2) Kill the "carriers" of reinfection - skin mites. Demodex (Demodex Folliculorum and Demodex Brevis) carries bacteria in the gut that reinfect the eyelids nightly, making conventional treatments for blepharitis ineffective. Demodex brevis, which lives in the meibomian (sebaceous) glands on the eyelids, also physically clogs the eyelids, causing "dry eyes." Additionally, when the mites bite you, the mites' claws dig micro-trauma into your skin cells, causing even more inflammation. You need to kill demodex mites to a smaller population. They eat your shell cells and fat, so wash your face 2 times a day and use Ocusoft Plus (amazon.com or OcuSOFT.com) on your eyelids before using Cliradex Wipes. Use Cliradex Wipes (amazon.com or cliradex.com) morning and night (evening is most important as they come out at night) for 8 weeks. Kliradex stings for about 15 seconds, after which everything is fine. It's worth the slight discomfort as it actually kills the mites. If you don't kill the mites, you won't have a prayer for a cure for blepharitis and rosacea. 3) Use traditional bacterial control methods: hot compresses twice daily, eye scrubs (use OcuSOFT Plus or OcuSOFT Platinum, not baby shampoo), eye massage and antibiotic/steroidal eye drops are required. If you don't fight bacteria during the other steps, you may have corneal damage. This step is the only one most ophthalmologists use, so it's no wonder why they say "blepharitis is incurable." My optometrist said I would have to do this (Step 3) for the rest of my life. Ophthalmologists: Wake up! Where's your "scientific curiosity"? 4) Treat skin with topical rosacea treatments as needed to restore normal immune response. The skin could heal on its own if you got rid of the mites - I did - the rosacea just went away after they killed the demodex. You can get it from the Cliradex website.) Get a prescription for doxycycline, low dose - it helps with bacteria but it also prevents MMP from being broken down (see Wound International website, article on MMP). Get a prescription for oral ivermectin (single dose) for systemic acaricide. Ivermectin is an acaricide that has been used by veterinarians for the past 20 years to control Demodex cat and dog mites. Ivermectin is also available by prescription from your dermatologist. MD, in an outrageously expensive topical rosacea remedy called Soolantra. It helped me right away, but for $315 a month at Wal-Mart with a goodRx.com coupon I couldn't afford it. It costs $389. Like Avenova, a patented hypochlorous acid product that's outrageously expensive (and only kills eggs and nymphs, not Demodex adults), these drug companies are cutting sales and liquidating most customers. -Tissue, Inc.) and OcuSOFT, who patented the ingredient but made it available to you and me. Average cost $40/24 napkins. You will need 5 boxes, so the average cost of killing ticks is $200. Cliradex is also simple and easy to use. Then use Cliradex Light Foam, which averages $40 per month. Hooray for Cleradex. OcuSOFT Plus is around $20/month for a great 2x daily eye wash before using Cliradex. Supposedly, OcuSOFT Plus kills Demodex, but it didn't work for me during the two-month testing period, 1-2017 and 2-2017.
