Extraordinary project made possible by this foam

After struggling with chimneys that bypassed a closed damper and encroached on the home during the months our large, old fashioned fireplace was not in use, I decided to add a hard foam "plug" to block the entrance to the living room. The first foam I tried was too thin and light, so any light breeze would open it up enough for the birds to fly out. I've searched for months, but all the thicker foam blocks I've found at local craft or hardware stores were the wrong size (too short, too narrow) or overpriced for the purpose. Perfect for my project! I was surprised, that it arrived rolled up and I was afraid it would curl up if padded. but laying it flat overnight fixed the kink and now it's in place and looking wonderful! The anthracite colored upholstery has a subtle pattern that makes it disappear. Only when you know it's behind a fire screen can you tell it's there! We weathered the windy weather and the fork stays in place. I even plan to use leftover foam cushions for two computer chairs. that makes them disappear.
