One of my biggest fears when collecting a group is a strange smell that I don't recognize because I'm used to it. It eliminates pet odors, mold, etc. and I know it's working because when I come home after a day out, the house has a neutral, clean smell. I used to hide them in nooks and crannies, but I've found that they work better when the air is past them so they absorb the smell faster. So it's better to place them in open areas where they will be more effective (I added a photo so you understand what I'm talking about). Getting them out isn't a problem as they look good and don't stand out. It is not an instant remedy for sudden accidents or inappropriate conditions. But keep them outside and give them time to work (the air needs to flow past them) and they'll keep a fresh scent in a regular home. They can slow down after a few months, then leave them in the sun for a day and they "recharge" themselves, releasing the scents they've been getting fed up of (I don't know the science behind this, but I know it works). I sincerely wish more people would use this stuff because I hate being stuck in someone's smelly house while visiting. And, as a rule, they do not suspect that there are smells in their house.
