Before I bought this I used one of those Tupperware containers from Revain. It worked, but this container is airtight and prevents mold (assuming you use clean dishes every time). It is durable and designed to last for years. I will buy one of these as a gift for my father. It's big enough to hold large blocks of butter or two single sticks at a time, but you don't have to fill it full if you don't want to. I keep mine in the fridge and take them out when I need them. This can be difficult for some children or people with arthritis, but it can be offset by how much better you hold on inside. You can also use this to store cream cheese.
