There is a problem with raccoons using my pool for a bath, a common problem in South Florida. Unfortunately, the motion sensor spray system I installed, which worked well for a year, didn't stop some of the more determined and intelligent raccoons, who found they had time to dip in the pool between sensor activations to mind their own business take care and jump out and avoid the splashes once they come out. Raccoon paw pads are very delicate so we first tried litter mats at the pool edge but that didn't work, they migrated to the shallower end. Enough mats were moved and assembled this way to fit on a flat shelf. As a result, after several attempts observed by my security camera, they are now avoiding the pool entirely. The mats are not cheap, but they are cheaper than the hunter's challenge.
