The plug makes it easier for the waterer to remove dirt from the bottom of the bowl. However, the cork will leak if you don't screw it in very tightly. You can't do it by hand, you have to use a tool and muscles. This makes the plug cumbersome and difficult to handle. In addition, the shutter in front of the float is tight, so you cannot clean the space behind, under, or around the float. I had two screws holding it in place. You will need to remove the screws to remove the shutter and clean behind it or if you need to adjust the float. I do not like it. My other avtovodov have a flapper valve and you can lift it to clean the stern and adjust the float if necessary. Much more convenient. I only gave it two stars because it has a good sized bowl, but there is a problem with the stopper as well as the valve.
