One of the clamps broke when I put my bike in the back of a VW Golf. It was during my first trip. No falls, no bumps, just the soft backseat of the car. Why did it happen? The clips have been removed to reduce weight and look cool I think. Combine this design with the inferior materials used to construct this product and you have a weak clamp - so weak that the metal simply snaps when you pull on the switch wire. Can Avid or SRAM work better? Of course. Just check out the Matchmaker X, which serves the same purpose but is built much stronger and is made of aluminum rather than a metal pan. However, this clip only supports XX levers and Elixir CR Mag. If you have another type of Avid brake that is getting you stuck with this one, flush your $20 down the toilet. Save your money and stay away from this product until it's updated! UPDATE: Avid has replaced the clips and the replacement kit is much stronger. He's been going strong for 8 months now. I changed my rating to 4 stars because I think they solved the problem.
