There are two built in dividers about 20% from each end. There is a third partition that can be placed right in the middle. Each of the extreme sections contains a medium-sized console. If this third divider were left, the larger center hole could fit three very slim remotes, so it's possible that five remotes could fit - but again only if three were very slim and the center divider was left out. . With the center divider installed, each of the two side pockets can hold a decent remote control, while the middle two pockets can hold a fairly large remote control or a small cell phone like an iPhone Mini. It works great for four items, but if you really want something for five or six items, keep looking.
