This is not "real" silver, but it is beautiful. I bought this floating locket for my mom for her birthday. I bought baby stones and put them in with a little amulet that said 'grandma' on it. she loved it. It's a little over a quarter and about two or three quarters thick. It snaps into place and easily opens to replace/add pendants. My only complaint would be the length of the chain, but they sent me three to choose from (a surprise I wasn't expecting). I actually bought a longer chain because the chains that came with it seemed very short and more suitable for a child. Overall it's worth the money and it was a great purchase.
