Review on Domke F-6 Little Bit Smaller Bag (Olive) by Robert Cole

Domke F-6: Great medium sized camera bag

So I bought this bag just 2 months after buying a $6M bag from Crumpler. Curious to know why I didn't like the Crumpler (read more): The reason is there was too much stuffing in the crumpler bag, I mean I'm not going to throw it away. And so I didn't have much space for my gear! In addition, the main valve of the Crumpler bag is a giant piece of Velcro, so you can't be invisible at a wedding or other important event. DOMKE F-6 REVIEW Appearance: I like that it's not an obvious camera bag. I mean everyone has a DSLR these days and the only requirement is that it be stolen in a typical camera bag that can be spotted from a mile away. I have an olive color because everyone has sand. It's a little greener than it looks in the photo, but I suspect it will become army green with use. Pockets: There is one zippered front pocket that runs the full length of the bag. A lot fits. Extra batteries, maps, my rocket air blaster, lens tissues, card reader, etc. The main flap also has a top zip pocket. I don't usually use it that much as my pocket is quite full and it adds an odd bulkiness. Clips: Some people complain that they are too difficult to post. not really. I have very weak hands that shake after an hour of shooting, but there are no problems with rollers. If anything you want them to be durable to ensure your gear doesn't fall out. Shape: It's true, the Domke bag adapts to the shape of your body. I like it because I know it won't fly off my shoulder or sway in front of me when I bend over. Padding: Some people complain about the padding. Compared to tote bags like the Lowerpro/Canon/Crumpler, it's definitely not as soft as these bags. The lower part uses a thicker cushion board. Domke bags are used by some serious photographers, you will never see anything in them that you can easily buy from BestBuy. I think if you have expensive equipment you should be careful with it. The Ultra padding gives you a false sense of security by making someone think they might slip or throw their bag over a table/room. You have to be careful with this bag. I would have thought you'd be careful from the start. WHAT IS SUITABLE: Here is an important question. This bag comes with a 4 piece liner. I personally don't like this configuration. With a 4 piece insert you can make a body with a short lens on it and wrap the insert all the way to the other end and plug in other lenses and flashes that you have. If you place the insert in the middle, you can use two housings, but without the lenses attached. WHAT I DID: I replaced the 4 piece insert with a 2 piece insert. I have 2 lenses there or 1 lens and a flash. And then two bodies with lenses attached: - Canon 50D with 24-70 lens - Canon 30D with 50mm lens - 70-200mm lens L flash / other lens and suitable. The bag actually stretches and hugs things, so it's fine. I'm no pro but I love this bag and it suits my needs perfectly. 4 stars in the end because I wish you could choose your insert. wishful thinking i know but I would rather have two cases with lenses and 2 extra compartments instead of two cases without lenses. I want to be ready to shoot when the moment comes. You have to put on a lens. You risk missing a shot.
