Review on πŸŒ™ High-Quality Moonrise Monoprice HDMI Active Cable - 35ft Gray, 4K@60Hz, 18Gbps, HDR, 26AWG, YUV, 4:4:4, CL3 - Luxe Active Series (113758) by Bobby Watkins

4k60+HDR at 35ft - no problem!

Very happy with this 35ft cable! First, it should be noted that Monoprice's "Luxe" line has evolved over the years and reviews from previous years do not necessarily reflect the current product, despite information in the Revain product listing. Specifically, at the end of 2017/beginning of 2018, the "active" chipset was replaced by the newer Spectra7 HT8181 from the outdated RedMere chipset. This ensures HDCP 2.2 compatibility and also improves signal quality. The cable I received had a production date of 2018 and advertised 4K @ 60Hz and YUV 4:4:4 (versus YUV 4:2:0 on this list). At the same time I also received a 30 foot Monoprice Cabernet cable (with the old chipset) and although it was 5 feet shorter it performed worse. Since the Cabernet and Luxe lines used to share the same chipset, I see disappointment in older reviews. So how does cable work? Excellent, in my tests. I've used it to carry a 4k@60 HDR YUV 4:2:2 signal with Dolby Digital audio and it works with no errors. It's also very responsive and my TV picks up quickly without the handshake you sometimes experience. As a side note, my use case is a PC with an nVidia GTX 970 connected directly to a Samsung KS8000. It's also a very durable cable that feels very durable. The quality of the materials seems very high - overall a premium cable feel (which should come at a price!).

Pros
  • High test results for hold and durability
Cons
  • Clearly bad product
