The instructions for this coffee maker state that you have to run vinegar through it the first time you use it, which I believe is necessary to remove any chemical residue left behind by the factory be able. 3 tablespoons vinegar to 4 cups water and let break. But to my surprise, as soon as about 2 cups of vinegar water was processed, it started dripping all over the counter! And not in small amounts! I couldn't believe it! I've never seen a coffee maker that does that and I'm glad I was standing right there because I had an extension cord and electronics on the counter that could either become damaged or create an electrical hazard that could end up in a puddle sits. Water. I picked it up to see where it came from and it looks like there was some sort of intentional hole in the ground where the water was gently pouring out. So my guess is that some sort of internal seal failed completely after heating, although I have a hard time imagining which design deliberately put a hole in the bottom of the water tank. Maybe there should be some kind of plug in there, mine didn't come. but if so why does it hold water for 2 cups out of 4? I do not know. Definitely I'll change it to another one assuming it's a fluke and I'll update this review as soon as I get the next one.
