The product arrived dirty and sticky even though it was in the box. I am not sure if I can even clean it

The product arrived very dirty. It looks used and I'm not even sure what it's covered in - almost like a mixture of toothpaste, dirt and something else, baked on. It was packaged in a box so I'm not sure who will ship this item in this form. Disappointing as it looks like a good product and not fun to open a sticky product and not even know what it is covered with. Especially in times of Covid one thinks that the products declared as new are clean.
