Great little fan on the A/C

I use this small lightweight fan to blow air into the DDM cold air intake box on my MINI R50. I chose this fan because it is from a real motorsport company and is designed for motorsport use (unlike a bilge pump). I live in Phoenix it is very hot there and it occurred to me that I could use a 3 inch silicone hose and run this fan in a line from the fresh air intake behind the grille along the top of the radiator to the cold air intake. Crate. I used an extra high beam harness to wire it up and I can activate it with a switch under my dash. When the fan isn't on, it still lets a lot of air through. I haven't tested it on a dyno and I don't think it really adds power (but it can because it's forcing a lot of air into the intake box and that creates an over pressure), but it does prevent power loss from excessive heat. under the hood. The only downside is that from the outside it looks a bit like an under-bonnet hair dryer, but the MINI's air conditioning fan is so loud that it's barely noticeable and you can't hear it inside the car.

Pros
